All About Goldens

Golden Retrievers are one of America's favorite breeds. They are known for their obnoxiously happy personality, their patience with children, their agility, and their endless amounts of love to give. Once you welcome a Golden to your family, your life will never be the same. 


Happy Personality

Goldens are one of the happiest breeds out there! They have infectious smiles, and so much love to constantly give. Goldens love to always be with their families. They are willing to run around and get tons of exercise, and then also to lay down and relax with you.

Patience with Children

If you have children, then a Golden is a great choice for you! Goldens are incredibly patient with children. They love to cuddle, run around, and play fetch with the whole family!

     

Grooming

The coat of a Golden is absolutely gorgeous. Goldens have a double layer coat that is waterproof (never shave your Golden!). If there is one bad part to owning a Golden, most owners would tell you it is the shedding. Twice a year, Goldens shed a crazy amount of hair! However, the rest of the year, with regular baths and brushing (and vacuuming), it is easy to manage the shedding.

"Trainability" 

Goldens love to please. Each dog is motivated by something different, although treats usually always work! Goldens can't say no to a meaty treat accompanied by much praise! Goldens do not respond well to punishment, but instead, react positively to praise. 

Activity Levels

Whether you love to sit and throw the ball for a game of fetch, or to go running all over the mountains, a Golden can fit your lifestyle. They love their daily exercise and walks, but can handle the calm moments of life, as well.

Male or Female?

Some people say that they prefer a certain sex of dog, but I have personally found males and females to be similar. The temperament and breeding of a dog will determine its positive attributes far more than the sex. Male dogs are said to bond with everyone, while females will sometimes have one, extra special person in their life. Either choice will have a lifetime of love!
